Due prospettive sul conflitto tra i sessi. Maria Zambrano e Rosa Chacel

Abstract

Rosa Chacel and María Zambrano did not identify with feminism and made negative judgments against feminist movements; neverthless their friendship was marked from the beginning by the awareness of the peculiar position they occupied, as women, in the intellectual world of Spain at the beginning of the century. The essay starts from the bond of Chacel and Zambrano towards the Ortega y Gasset magisterium to measure the implicit but clear distance between the two disciples towards the teacher on the theme of love and the relationship between men and women. The analysis focuses on some essays of the '30s and' 40s, in which the two young authors reflect and discuss the hegemonic theories on the difference and complementarity between the sexes that circulated in Europe and in the pages of the Revista de Occidente.
