Óscar García Agustín

Óscar García Agustín is Professor of Democracy and Social Change and head of the research group DEMOS (Democracy, Migration and Society) at the Department of Culture and Learning, Aalborg University. His research interests are democratic transformations, populism, migration, civil society, and social movements. He has published Left-Wing Populism. The Politics of the People (Emerald, 2020) and Solidarity and the ‘refugee crisis’ in Europe (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), the latter co-authored with Martin Bak Jørgensen. Currently, he is PI of the research project Geographies of Populism, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
Anita Nissen

Anita Nissen is a postdoc affiliated with the research group Regional and International Studies (REGIS) at the Department of Politics and Society at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her research encompasses the fields of political sociology and political science. Her main research interests concentrate around the far right (parties and extra-parliamentary actors), social movements, and civil societal organisations. Currently, she is involved in the research project ‘Social exclusion, polarization and security in the Nordic welfare state’ (funded by NordForsk), where she conducts research on far-right radicalization processes. Her PhD focused on the Europeanization of two transnational far-right coalitions, Fortress Europe and Generation Identity.
