Le figure dell'italiano Pietro Martire d'Anghiera e dello spagnolo Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda sono strettamente legate al loro tempo. Hanno diversi tratti in comune che non sempre si riscontrano ad una prima lettura delle loro biografie. Se il primo si sposta dall'Italia alla Spagna dei Re Cattolici, impegnato nella conquista di Granada, ultimo avamposto degli arabi nella penisola iberica, il secondo fa un viaggio inverso. Ma c'è un elemento che li unisce: le cronache del Nuovo Mondo. Entrambi non avevano mai visto il continente americano ma descrivono quei popoli, gli incontri e gli scontri avvenuti. Le loro informazioni sono tratte da due preziosi testimoni: Cristoforo Colombo per Pietro Martire d'Anghiera e Hernan Cortes per Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda. Their informations are taken from two precious witnesses: Christopher Columbus for Peter Martyr d'Anghiera and Hernan Cortes for Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda.
