Mario Marti's Dante scholarly merits are well known. Here, we succinctly review the numerous lecturae Dantis, shining a light on the modus operandi of a great Maestro: first, the analysis of the canto in its rethorical-stylistic-linguistic aspects; then the referencing to the historical background and the historical-cultural frame in which each episode is located; finally the autobiographical implications, intended both as the personal history, and the feeling that sparked the imagination. Basic elements in formulating a critical judgement.

Qui si passano in rapida rassegna le numerose lecturae Dantis, mettendo in luce il modus operandi di un grande Maestro: anzitutto l'analisi del canto nei suoi aspetti retorico-stilistico-linguistici, a seguire il riferimento ai dati storici e all'intelaiatura storico-culturale in cui si colloca il singolo episodio, quindi le implicazioni autobiografiche, nel duplice senso della storia personale e del sentimento che ha attivato l'immaginazione.
