Un esemplare di Rhizoprionodon acutus (Rüppell) è stato di recente pescato presso Taranto (Italia merid.: mar Jonio). Questa è una specie tropicale presente in tutti gli oceani, ma mai segnalata in mari molto prossimi all’Europa. Sei altri squali della medesima famiglia (Carcharhinidae) erano finora noti in Mediterraneo.

A specimen of Rh. a. has been recently captured near Taranto (South Italy: Jonian sea). This is a tropical species, living in all the oceans, but never reported from seas very near to Europe. Six other sharks of the same family (Carcharhinidae) were hitherto known in the Mediterranean.
