POxy 2481 e le fanciulle in fiore del Catalogo delle donne di Esiodo (fr. 26 M.-W. = fr. 17 H. = fr. 23 Most)
Abstract
POxy 2481 is what remains of a philologically edited volumen, datable to II century, containing verses from Book I of Hesiod's Catalogue of Women. Among the fragments of this papyrus, the section on the daughters of Porthaon, king of Aetolia, reveals a number of elements that fit harmoniously into the style of the authentic Hesiod rather than being an example of a later imitation in terms of both narrative and style.
