It was 62 the Apulians enlisted in the American army that almost all fell on French soil and in particular in Lorraine, in the battle of the salient of St. Mihiel between 12 and 19 September 1918. The study of the story of these 62 young children of Apulian emigrants in the United States let us discovers a little-known aspect of the First World War, namely the participation of Italians enlisted in all respects by a foreign army such as that of the United States of America
