L'article édite et analyse quatre sermons funéraires consacrés à Philippe de Tarente († 1331), frère cadet du roi Robert (1309-1343) de la première dynastie angevine des monarques de Sicile-Naples. Les textes proviennent du sermonnaire de Giovanni Regina (connu entre 1298 et 1348/1349), dominicain napolitain à la fois grand thomiste et actif prédicateur. Le cas du prince de Tarente lui servait à illustrer une rhétorique plus générale en faveur des Anjou. Son portrait du prince s'accordait à cette fin. Très peu transpirait des ambitions propres de Philippe. Le Prêcheur le montrait attaché à Naples comme au service du royaume et de l'Église. Il paraissait au total l'exemple des vertus de sa maison et, par excellence, un prince parthénopéen.

This is an edition and commentary of four funeral eulogies in behalf of Philip of Taranto († 1331), younger brother to King Robert (1309-1343) of the first Angevin dynasty of Sicily and Naples. The texts are found in the sermon collection of Giovanni Regina (known between 1298 and 1348-1349), a Neapolitan Dominican, important Thomist, and active preacher. Regina used the prince of Taranto to illustrate a larger rhetoric in favor of the Angevins: his portrait of the prince suited this purpose. Little in it touches upon the personal ambitions of Philip: the preacher shows him to have been devoted to Naples and to serving the crown and the Church. All in all, the prince is a model of the Angevin House's virtues, the Neapolitan prince par excellence (translated by Prof. John Drende).
