Tra disfatta diplomatica e disastro militare: il 1917, annus horribilis dell’Impero ottomano

Abstract

The year 1917 represented a real nightmare for the Ottoman Empire in the context of the First World War. In fact, even though the Sultan surrendered more than a year later, both the military and diplomatic events occurred in 1917 stroke a final blow to an already tired and obsolete empire. In this essay I have analyzed the root causes of the Ottoman weakness before the war, to better understand how a single year put an end to a more than six hundred years old empire
