Comptes de plantes fourragères et de céréales en démotique

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to introduce the first results on the study of six unpublished demotic papyri, belonging to the Fonds Jouguet (Institut de papyrologie de la Sorbonne). These documents are dated from the Ptolemaic period and are, for five of them, land surveys, the last one is a grain accounting. Beyond grain culture, the documents discuss the fodder plants crops, one of which is extremely rare. Moreover, an unknown toponym is mentioned. This study will contribute to the knowledge of agriculture practices and its organization in the Fayyum.
